Mangakahia Road was redesiginated a State Highway earlier this year. Residents wanted to ask NZTA and members from the Northland Freight Group (NFG) questions about issues that concerned them. A joint presentation was made covering information about the road, maintenance and the background involving the NFG and its wide membership.
Following the presentation and question/answer time – ‘Bryan & Bobby’ a well established and widely respected & recognised team promoting injury prevention, community & road safety throughout New Zealand stepped up and presented with the popular ‘Seat-belt Click’ message.
Bryan is a long serving and honored Policeman based in Auckland. He developed the ‘Bryan & Bobby’ initiative many years ago and has had television and radio shows, along with videos produced with a very long list of injury prevention & community and road safety themes. He has been awarded the ‘Queens Service Medal’ (QSM) for his outstanding services to the community.
The photos above briefly highlighted the fun and interaction that took place at the Marae.
Thank you to the Te Aroha Marae members and local residents for your invitation and hospitality. Representatives were also in attendance from the New Zealand Transport Agency, Northland Regional Council, Whangarei District Council and heavy vehicle sector.
