Our Partners
Here you can find out about our partners and their roles, how we all work together, plus lots of useful links and information.
Northland Road Safety is driven by numerous partners including the Northland Regional Council as part of implementing a Safe System which creates safe roads, safe speeds, safe vehicles and safe road use. This ties in with our road safety strategies on both a national and regional levels.
Northland has made huge progress in Road Safety over the past few year’s thanks to our Police, Road Controlling Authorities, Government Agencies and various community organisations who continue to work together to improve driver behaviour and the safety of our roads.
Much of Northland’s road safety activity has been guided by evidence based Road Safety Strategies, Action Plan’s and Crash Reduction Studies and Audits regularly carried out.
The national strategy “Safer Journeys” is founded on the safe system approach. This approach joins the four tenets of: Safe Roads and Roadsides; Safe Speeds; Safe Vehicles; and Safe Road Use in a focussed whole of system approach to road safety.
This Northland Road Safety Action Plan has been developed to link the national strategy to our Northland action. It identifies priority areas of action based on evidence based data from the Crash Analysis System (CAS), Hospitalisation and Injury related data from both the Northland DHB & ACC partners. It is available to assist and guide our partners regarding local action plans in tackling the identified local & regional issues.
Over the last few years we have had a heightened conversation about road safety within our communities. Let us continue to talk about, and act on those issues which most affect us in our communities – ROAD SAFETY IS EVERYONE’S RESPONSIBILITY.
