The Labour Weekend northbound Fatigue Stop took place on Friday the 24th October 2014 on State Highway One, at Uretiti. It was another successful event with no small amount of thanks to our road safety partners – Northland Road Safety Association, Ruakaka 60’s Up, Northland Regional Council, Fulton Hogan, Downer ITS, Northland Brain Injury Association, Altura Coffee, Northland Hospitality, MeadowFresh Milk, Northland Road Safety Trust, Whangarei District Council, ACC, Police, St John, NZ Refining Company, Smith & Davies and NorthPort.

There were a wide variety of motorists that stopped and were appreciative of the refreshments, road safety give-aways and discussions/information around fatigue and driving. We trialled a new electronic fatigue survey developed by Cloud Guru.

To our knowledge after many years of doing Fatigue Stops at Uretiti we also had our first set of ‘Triplets’ stop with their parents. These young girls were so lovely and friendly that the volunteers really enjoyed this milestone. They were a real credit to their parents.

At the Fatigue Stops there are always very interesting people that stop and conversations that take place. Friday was no exception and again a big thank you to the volunteers and the motorists that took the time to stop and rest.
